Built to dominate Group A racing, the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR was introduced in 1989. Entering the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC), the Group A-spec R32 competed in 29 races from 1990 to 1993 and won every. single. one. 

Resulting in the Australian motoring publication Wheels magazine coining a very fitting nickname in July 1989. When the R32 was preparing to race, editors brainstormed a word to describe its monstrous Japanese origins and overwhelming power, ultimately settling on "Godzilla". Its dominance in Group A was so absolute that motorsport regulators eventually changed the rules and banned the car to level the playing field, cementing its nickname and legendary status.
